    stt bubble advice

    Post  Sarah99 on Wed Jul 29, 2009 1:02 am

hi guys and gals... just a bit of stt advice please...

    10 seater $10, 1500 chips, 8 min blinds.

    4 of us left, i have 3.5k, 3 others have 6.5k, 4k, and 1k.

My bb of 600, I have AJ suited.

    4k player folds
    1k player goes all in
chippy on 6.5k flat calls for 700 more.

At this point i think that if chippy (who was quite aggro) had anything, he'd just shove over the top of the shorty's all in.

So i go all in. Shorty has QQ and holds up.

I wasnt too fussed about the hand, seemed straight forward to me, but chippy starts ranting on about how i should just flat call and check it down, etc, cos he would of beat the other guy with his Q10, and we'd all be in the money.

So should i of flat called, or was i right to shove?

No you was right to shove infact it was the perfect play IMO.

The colab is a true statement if you had just called the 400 to see the flop with a marginal hand, but with AJs and only 5bb left in your stack it's shove shove shove for me

i'm with evo on that, it's a shove all day long there.

if the big stack is trying to draw you in with a premium hand and knocks you both out your still going to cash in 3rd.

and if you take take the pot down your in a good position to go for 1st.

if your playing a double up though, it's got to be a call and check it down.

yup I'm with the shove here - you have a plenty strong enough hand, shorty could have anything, and sb would of prob reraised if he had you beat.

Obviously if it was a double or nothing stt on the bubble then its a flat call all day long, but with normal payouts, you gotta shove and go for the chips FTW.

Personally i dont think either play is that bad an option but for me its the flat call in this position. Weed out the short stack guarantee the cash then rule the roost.

Even tho the chippie was "aggro", id not let my own selfish battle to "get one over" on him take over.

How did this game pan out in the end anyways ?

i dont really see the chippies logic - you had a legit hand, no problems. Its not in your interests for the chippy to take him out really, it just makes your job of finishing 1st/2nd that bit harder.
