Re: so now...................
hmm he missed a drugs test.... not quite the same as being a druggie....
As for rooney, i think fergie has the right idea - he hasn't been given utd captaincy because fergie wants him to concentrate on doing what he does best, rather than worrying about how everyone else is performing. Also strikers as captains is irritating, esp if he's playing as a lone striker (and since england have naff strikers but good mid fielders he may as well be) and id say the only player forward at corners etc.
The whole terry thing is just something that a lot of blokes do..... but unfortunately it was with a team mates missus. Thats clearly an issue with being team capt....

so not turnin up for a drug test isa good example for kids?????
puttin rooney as captain would gave him a amassive boost before the world cup and no one includin the media would have questioned this, but by appointing ferdinand, all the questions will be asked,
its englands best ever chance of winning a world cup and the media are doin there best to ruin it

no, missing a drugs test is not a good example to kids. But it's a lot less of a bad example than say being a druggie, speeding in your fat car, or sleeping with your team m8s missus.
just my op, but i think making rooney capt would of put an additional burden on his shoulders that isnt really nessecary. Rio is older and more mature, and just as much of a big mouthed big personality. He also plays in a more traditional captains position than rooney.
And no matter what happens the media will try to ruin it. thats their job, they just want to sell papers. And if we win it, theyll all try and be the most england supporting paper to try and sell papers too.

rick you missing my point here m8,as a england captain you meant to be an example to all players and public, john terry got sacked for not doing this and rightly so,but by installing ferdinand defeats the object,WHY DID HE MISs 3 tests???
and also rick how can being CAPTAIN of your country be a burden???

Re: so now...................
rio definitely a better choice than terry, but rooney would be better than both i think. I know what ric is saying though, having a striker as capt is rarely the best choice.
can't see england winning it, but looking forward to a nice run to the semi's or something.
