Hmmmm, insta call?

Post  wildrick on Thu Feb 18, 2010 1:02 am

ok, m8 of mine was playing live the other day, £30 deepstack, 50 runners, 7 paid.

9 left, and he is 2nd ish, with 48k, average is 20k, bb is 1600.

Guy with 45k raises to 6k from ep. M8y calls in cutoff with AQ.

Flop comes down AA2, and raiser insta shoves his other 39k ish into the 15k pot.

so... insta call leaving you 3k and fcked if it goes wrong?

Instant call, I think I would put him on a high pocket pair, qq or kk and he has his fingers crossed you dont have the ace.

I have to call this all day and if im beat its just real bad luck i guess. No point calling the original raise to fold on a flop like that.

Folding will defo get ya paid but calling could and probably would win the tournament and i wanna win !

Anyway unless this guy is pretty smart why would he go all in on the flop unless he has 22. If he is that clever then wp wp gg fml

Can't play poker to win and fold hands like this. If you are wrong and go out then so be it but folding here would defeat the purpose of playing the game!

Hmmm. If you snap call m8 you don't ask yourself anything let alone 1, 2, & 3!

ok, well glad to see everyone insta-called!

Shover had AK unfortunately, and no miracle Q came, he did manage to last until the cash tho, but couldnt hold on past 7th.

Basically my m8 dropped in after playing, a bit down that he had got 95% of his chips behind in when going well. I said that it was just a cooler and anyone would call, he wasnt so sure - so i said id post it here without saying what happened, and see if anyone would fold!

I don't think you can make a decision whether to call or not unless you had enough information on the player. My action in that hand totally depends on the information & observations I have made on the player. This might even enable you to fold preflop and not have to put yourself in a situation where you have a difficult call to make.

From the info given though I would maybe put him on a range of hands like the obvious KK QQ JJ, but 22 has to cross your mind - but it takes big balls to overshove a flopped fullhouse when you want to get called.

Personally, I call. How can you fold? Why call preflop if your gonna fold trip aces on the flop?! But I still maintain that if your read's correct, AQ goes in the muck preflop here, so you don't have to deal with situations like this.
